01 / THE ENCOUNTERA STATEMENT — THE READER READS

A STUDY IN EVIDENCE

Let the receipts disagree.

Three findings from a fictional listening-room test. The uncomfortable result belongs beside the successful one.

ILLUSTRATIVE TEST RECORD03findings, not one verdict

EVIDENCE

Room A was quieter

Illustrative meter readings: A 32 dB; B 41 dB. Same position and interval.

SUPPORTED

Every listener preferred A

Illustrative responses: 8 chose A; 2 chose B. “Every” is contradicted by two responses.

REFUTED

The preference persists over time

No repeat session is supplied. The available record cannot settle persistence.

OPEN

All measurements here are illustrative fixtures. A mixed record is more informative than a wall of selected successes.

EVIDENCE

Forms with a recorded chapter behind them

21 of 35 name the chapter they came from, and every one of those was a page that could not be built without the form. ExpertField and Comparison came from the codex; Variants, Refusal, the ladders and all 8 performances from the vindex3 exhibition; Terminal from its Explorer; Lens, Citation and Provenance from publishing a specification.

SUPPORTED

Forms with recorded evidence added to fill a taxonomy gap

Zero of those recorded. The three modes were named after the forms existed, not before — the split was noticed in the vindex3 build rather than designed up front.

REFUTED

How the 14 forms without a recorded origin were admitted

Unresolved. They predate origin recording, so the manifest can neither show they came from real pages nor show they did not — and an unrecorded origin is left absent rather than reconstructed. The evidence stops where the record stops.

YOU ARE SHOWING WHAT HOLDS IT UP

Showing the findings behind a claim.

Does at least one row refute something? A list with no failures is advertising.

What is the Evidence form in HAUSE, and when do you use it?

The Evidence form is a HAUSE statement — rows of labelled findings with status marks — receipts, not decoration. Receipts, not decoration. Each row is a finding, its status, and the detail that earns it — dates, machines, measurements, in evidence voice, where numbers are believed.

THE LIBRARY’S OWN ACCOUNT

Behind the form.

components/forms/Evidence.tsx

Receipts, not decoration. Each row is a finding, its status, and the detail that earns it — dates, machines, measurements, in evidence voice, where numbers are believed.

SUPPORTED and REFUTED sit in the same list on purpose. A page that only shows its wins is advertising; the refuted row beside the supported one is what makes either of them worth reading.

A statement: the reader reads.

THE STATEMENT’S DISCIPLINE

Every statement is prose in the three voices — editorial for claims, system for explanation, evidence for measurement. Server-renderable, no interaction: the reader reads, and nothing about the form depends on JavaScript arriving.

REACT · Evidence

import { Evidence } from "@chrishayuk/hause/components/forms/Evidence";

export function Evidence({ items }: { items: { label: string; status: Status; detail: string }[] })

The import and the complete props contract. For installation and composition, follow the Build guide.

NOT INVENTED IN ISOLATION

A page needed this.

Used in vindex3.org and hause.design. These exhibitions share an author; this is evidence of reuse, not independent adoption.

01 / THE PROBLEMEVERYTHING BECOMES A CARDAsk a model for an interface and the same eight containers come back: cards, badges, accordions, tabs, chat bubbles. A comparison, a refusal, an answer and a measurement are four different acts. They arrive as the same rectangle.05 / THE PROBLEMTHE BOOK DRIFTS FROM THE CODEDocumentation is a copy of the system, and copies rot. Every count in it was true on the day it was typed.07 / THE PROBLEMEVERYTHING SOUNDS EQUALLY CERTAINA generated paragraph, a measured result and an open question arrive in the same voice, at the same size, with the same confidence. The interface has no way to say which is which, so the reader supplies the difference — usually wrongly.
